Nice 2025 worlds thread

Yup I finally watched the womens 2024 worlds once I got to Europe.

If you want to keep the bike simple here is a good plan
To the 10 km flat then up
To the 30km then flat
To the 40 km then up
To the 65 km plateau
To the 115 first drop down
To the 120 back up
To the 128 down to
145 km good to fill your bike hear !!!
Down home.

Now the simple, way to remember climbs at 10,40,120, 145 small climb but best last spot for aid.

Broadcast starts differently depending on how you watch. 5.15 am CEST is the earliest broadcast start. The race starts 7.05 am CEST. Conveniently (for math) Hawaii is 12 hours behind CEST on Sunday, so the above times means 5.15 pm Saturday and 7.05 pm Saturday over on the other side of the globe. (So the finish is probably some time around 2.30 am Sunday for you.)

Its not that long ago that docs, nutritionists and all the coaches were saying 90 was the ultimate max. We blew through that number and have now doubled it. And I have a gut feeling we are not done their either. At least for some people, this is going to be a very individual thing, like heat/cold tolerance, folks will have quite a varying difference on how they can perform under the high ends of the curve. OF course everyone has a limit, just dont think we have seen the true outliers ones yet…

Somewhere on the internets is a video of their former coach saying that they’ve tested how much exactly they can absorb per hour.

I can’t find the exact one, but here’s one where he’s throwing around 160g like it’s common at that level (and for absorption)

I’ve started messing around with more then 120g on the bike and so far feel fine, no GI distress. I finish 3 hour workouts which aren’t just easy and I feel great and well fueled when I’m done.

It’s supposed to rain all day today so I am sure it will be wetsuit swim.

Also would plan if you haven’t to have plastic bags inside your netting transition bag or your gear will be soaked tomorrow.

If it hasn’t rained there in a while, could that likely mean roads are slightly slicker? Or will they have dried up completely by then?

We had a crazy thunderstorm earlier in the week and the roads were pretty much dry by the end of the day, at least in the city

Probably skipping the wetsuit regardless… was uncomfortably warm not even working that hard.

I agree , it feels to hot right now to make this a wetsuit swim. but I think it will also be cooler in the am with both the water and air which might make it feel better.

Water temp is 23.6 so will be wetsuit swim, but yeah unless you have a sleeveless it will still probably be to warm for a full wetsuit.

Much colder today, so there is a chance.

The water temperatures that IM have been releasing have consistently been 1-2 degrees C higher than the temperatures listed on this web site. On Wednesday IM reported 25.5 and yesterday they reported 24.9.

It looks touch and go to me and I am half hoping that it is not wetsuit legal to remove the need for me to make any decision myself.
