Ya seems kind of weird to me to publicly call out a race series (T100) who payed you a decent salary to be able to race around the world doing what you say you love to do.
Whatever the issues are needs a big change I think. Coaching change or something to get things going in the right direction. Like with yesterday that is 6 DNFs in 18 races over past two years (and none were from mechanical or injury, all just “not feeling it” DNFs). With her run she can run through the field in Kona in the future but needs to get the bike strong enough to have her in half decent striking distance.
I’m not sure when she called them out, but remember, it took them quite a while to actually make good and pay on their series standings. So she might have been hurting for cash after committing a year to them and in the red when she made those statements. And even so… it’s not like she should feel happy thoughts about T100 after that serious issue that was seemingly only paid out when they got bailed out by the middle east.
Doesn’t read like a ‘call out’ to me. After her successes in 2023 and anticipating further progress in 2024 it was reasonable that Jewett accepted a T100 contract. But the races really didn’t go well - her bike remains her weakness, most of the time. That’s what “sucked the joy out of her” and we could see it happening. Bit like Long’s T100 experiences in 2025 have done likewise.

I agree!! The logistics were horrible. No one I talked to could answer my questions. My morning bag never made it back to the village. Kept checking (about 5 different times), finally someone said there are about 40 morning bags back at T2. Yep. just lying out in the open beside transition. Not sure why all the bags couldn’t have been at T2. Why just have the morning bags go to the village but have the wetsuit and run bags at T2. The wetsuit bags were very delayed getting to T2 as well.
When we arrived to checkin there were 3 golf carts doing the shuttle for everyone. Sat there were 8 carts so a bit better and supposedly 13 on Raceday. The dust bowl is legit. Needed a mask to walk back and forth.
When you do all your Saturday bike drop etc you have to dump your wetsuit and get tagged or they won’t let you in the water on Raceday. I dumped my suit was given a hanger but no tag. luckily they were willing to just tag me on Raceday or I would have had to dump again and get into a very cold suit.
I think it’s more than just the bike being exposed as weakness for why she didn’t like the T 100 experience. After Dubai DNF last year she said the T 100 format is clearly just not aligning with heart as an athlete. That is straight from her Instagram. So if it was purely the bike issues, then that would mean that being challenged on the bike doesn’t align with her values as an athlete, which kind of sounds even more bizarre coming from a professional athlete
Whether she stays in the IM circuit or gives I another go to the T100 against much stronger fields, her bike is going to need a bit of work. Her run is obviously in a great place as she is arguably the fastest runner in the mid/long distance field. Calling out the T100 over social media doesn’t really do her any favors from a PR/sponsorship perspective, in my opinion.
Check the rules again my friend. USAT says no shirt required.
Ironman has the stupid zipper rules, which are adapted from World Triathlon rules, which are based on some weird euro love for stupid rules that are arbitrarily enforced.
I can see for world tri having universal rules that would make attire “non insulting” in some countries. Probably like IAAF and others need to make sure their uniform rules will be OK in some countries with dictatorships etc. Euros are fine with you walking around naked on the beach, so it is likely not a European thing
I think Marks take on the PTN podcast is most sensible.
Ironman wants their athletes looking presentable across the finish line.
They also also want to maintain some kind of standard.
If it was the boogeyman conservatives that hate bodies they’d ban female swimsuits on the bike and run and they’d be targeting women showing more on the run.
Take a breath and realize your knee jerk reactionism response doesn’t add up with why this rule is there and how it’s been enforced.
Sure is . Yet triathlon is so professional they make different rules every week depending on laps, water bottles, shoes and zipper and sometimes don’t even enforce them with video evidence or admission.
I don’t favour the rule I am telling why they installed it.
It’s been a conversation for the last 20 years.. I remember doing 70.3 utah when I was like 23 ( Im 45 now) and Lavato running with me ( for like 30 seconds) reminding me I needed to get my jersey up over one of my shoulders..
No doubt that once again.. The officials things is an issue. And the call was REALLY stupid.
