Didn’t show up in mine either. That’s disappointing. Got it now though.

If this doesn’t get you fired up to race…I don’t know what will

Well done @talbotcox. And a nice artistic deviation from your normal content

As said in Lionel’s topic, absolutely brilliant @talbotcox . I think your cinematic skills have done an insane progress over the years. I’d love to know how’d you get some of the close up racing shots with Lionel on the run or bike, was it IM or were you/someone else there with a camera on Lionel’s nose?

Talbot might want to adjust the YouTube search criteria for this video. I searched for Talbot Cox and also for Lionel Sanders and it doesn’t show up. I had to search for The Feed to find it.

As well here. Then it still didn’t pop up on the screen after typing in The Feed. I had to hit the search button and scroll for The Feed channel. And i get random nobody triathlete gods showing up in my recommened feed all the time. Glad i saw this thread.

Watched episode 1.

It was super cheesy - this would normally put me off. But in this case, something about the message and how it was delivered just really sent it home. I have no idea why. Rather than annoy or amuse me, the film wowed me.

Great first episode Talbot! Very inspiring words from Lionel. Thanks for capturing it so well.

Hey everyone,

First off, huge thanks to Bryan for starting this thread — I really appreciate it. And to all of you who have commented, thank you for the kind words and for watching. It honestly means the world to me.

A lot of you mentioned having trouble finding the episodes — the best way is to go straight to The Feed’s YouTube channel (not mine) Link attached. They’ll all be posted there, one every Tuesday, and we’ll keep them organized in a playlist so you can follow along.

I’ll share a little backstory. Back in 2017, I started my Kona series. At the time, I wasn’t trying to make anything big — I just wanted to create videos that inspired me, the kind of stuff I wished existed when I was a kid. I did my first triathlon at age nine, was a massive Lance Armstrong fan, and I’d spend hours digging around the internet for any scrap of video or insight into the athletes. That hunger to see behind the curtain stuck with me, and when I started spending more time around the pros, I thought: why not just start filming the content I’d always wanted to watch?

That led to helping build Gwen Jorgensen’s channel, Lionel Sanders’ channel, Tim and Rinny’s channel, and a bunch of other little projects. Over the years I’ve dreamed of making something bigger — something more cinematic, more in-depth — almost like a documentary series. A big inspiration for this project was John John Florence’s Twelve. I always thought, “What if triathlon had something like that?”

So earlier this year I pitched the idea to The Feed. To be totally honest, I underestimated just how big of a lift this would be. It’s been a huge time commitment, a lot of admin work, and a lot of travel — definitely more than I imagined. But seeing it start to come together has been incredibly rewarding.

The vision was simple: six athletes, twelve episodes. Each athlete gets two episodes — one around a qualification race and a home visit, the other around the Ironman World Championship. The roster came together from The Feed’s group of athletes, and one of the biggest pieces was being able to actually use Ironman footage legally. Without The Feed and Mortal Hydration stepping in as sponsors, we wouldn’t have had access to that. Hats off to Ironman as well for helping with footage — it’s nearly impossible otherwise.

The process is pretty scrappy. I spend an hour on the phone with each athlete, interview them about their season, and then I write a six-minute script using their own words. Then I go to their homes for a couple days, film lifestyle and training, and have them read the script to camera. Remember, these are athletes, not Hollywood actors, so sometimes the delivery is a little stiff — but that’s part of the charm. I want it to feel raw and real.

Editing is by far the biggest lift. We have an editor in the UK I’ve worked with before — he’s done PTO projects and other doc series — and he’s one of the best storytellers I’ve seen. I’m not editing these myself; my role is more executive producer/director: shooting the home visits, writing scripts, organizing logistics, and then working with the editor on the story. It’s actually my first time directing something on this scale, so I’m learning a ton along the way.

The schedule is three men’s episodes leading into Nice, then three women’s into Kona, then the World Championship episodes, and finally a closing piece with Lionel at 70.3 Worlds. There’ll be a couple break weeks in between. My hope is that by the end you’ll have six unique stories that each reach a different audience Lionel’s is more inspirational, Cam’s is more about family, Skye bring the motherhood angle, Magnus has that scientific side, Taylor the dual-sport story, etc.

At the end of the day, this is still a pretty low-budget series. We’re trying to keep it simple, focus on storytelling, and deliver something that’s both cinematic and consumable something you could throw on during a trainer ride and just get lost in.

And while my name is on it, this isn’t just me. The team at The Feed, Mia especially, the folks at Ironman, James Mitchell shooting one of the episodes, Kenny Withrow, and of course the athletes themselves — they’ve all been so generous with their time and energy.

So yeah, that’s the vision. It’s been a huge learning curve, but also one of the most fun projects I’ve ever worked on. I’m grateful the athletes trusted me enough to let me into their homes and their lives, and grateful that you all are watching and enjoying it.

Lots more episodes still to come — thanks again for following along and for all the support.

If you have any questions or ever want to share your thoughts let me know. I will attempt to do a post episode write up on each episode after each is posted here in Slowtwitch.

Thanks everyone again!

That was fantastic @talbotcox. Who writes the story script? You, the athlete, a combination of both?
