The only one obsessing about skin is still in your posts.
I countered that if the obsession was related to a perceived purient interest weâd have regulations against the swimsuits.
But truth be told, Iâve asked one of the more famous women in person, if the skin suits are faster why donât you wear one and the response was, comfort and it looks good.
The reason why womenâs volleyball and gymnastics sell ads is because it casts a wide net of viewers. Youâll note, the thereâs also been a lot of push back on the womenâs volleyball stuff and it wasnât the stuffy American conservatives, but ahem, the Norwegians who were fined and before that the German women wore ankle length leotards and got some anger from the officials.
All that aside, itâs pure sophistry whataboutism to claim we should have no rules because we can point to an inconsistency. Itâs like arguing with a high schooler who grasps at every straw to prove a point.
Ironman wants their athletes to look professional across the finish line so they have that rule. For all I know, they have some hopes of selling a Coke sponsorship some day that would require every participating pro to have the coke logo and they built that rule in to ensure some protest athlete doesnât run across the line hiding the logo.
But either way, their goal is to simply have some kind of uniform standard and not have huge issues surrounding it. I think they just need to change the penalty for non compliance in this case. Two minute penalty, up to a $1000 fine to an automatic DQ depending on the circumstances and official discretion.
It wasnt a golf cart⌠It was a Gator.. Ironman really messed this up.
Yup it was cold in Paris and sometimes raining.
They should have let them wear pants , not sure what you mad about. If you choose to wear pants wear pants if you choose to wear a jammer wear a jammer if you choose to wear a speedo wear a speedo. Why does everyone need to be the same.
If itâs cold pants are good if itâs Rio Brazil and hot speedos are good .
Wear what you like and perform best in.
Haha enough already.. move on.
magazine is so 30 years ago ![]()
If the athlete has twisted his ankle, and fallen as a result, is that not penalty enough?
IRONMAN try to align their rules with those of World Tri.
And the âpenaltyâ there is:
Annex K: 22. . . . wearing a uniform with front zipper undone during the last 100m of the run; - Warning and amend [2.8 c. (viii)] Neither time penalty not DQ is an option.
Here is a recap of the Golf Cart incident from Jackie Herring.
