Plenty of non-IM options in Europe, particularly in the half distance… Challenge races being $260-300 and local brands often cheaper.
Closest IM 70.3 to me is about 230k away on the Sunshine Coast costing $630AUD
Closest Half Iron is 30k away costing $375AUD
Might just have to sign up for the local one.
Just chiming in to say that there has been 35% total inflation once 2015, so the IM distance example has only really matched inflation.
Looking through my receipts, I paid $260 USD to register for Syracuse in 2015, which is equivalent to $365 today. I paid $475 USD for next year’s races, so it has gone up more than inflation for a 70.3
Sort of. This chart obviously doesn’t encompass everything, but I just want to add there’s really no such thing as average inflation. There’s inflation in various sectors of the economy and they get averages together and massaged and manipulated to try to tell an aggregate picture across the entire economy.
But an Ironman isn’t an aggregation of the entire economy, is a specific thing that almost certainly has higher rates of inflation than the combined average.
I suspect, Ironman would actually need to raise their prices even more if they wanted a similar gross margin as they did 10 years ago.

What you think is the REAL purpose/mission of that “Wrapped” bullshit?
